The dark council have prepared a 'contract' for certain individuals. They may not be the one at fault, but for whatever reason, restrictions play a part in their foreseeable future. 

Combined with a set of rules that have to be followed, Sophie struggles with her special preoccupation- taking a life to gain another day of living. One body for one day and two bodies for two more days, all within a time limit.

How long can she keep it up? Why was she chosen to do this in the first place? What on earth is the dark council?
