Alexander has never had a normal life, the actions of his late father have cost him dearly. And brought him even close to death. Drusilla had no part in choosing her own fate either, being born a pirate but despising their kind is harder than you can imagine. The two meet under dreary circumstances. But surprisingly they form an unlikely bond and journey through each other's tails, being chased by pirates, hiding in an underwater ship, and fighting to the death.

Until she comes across a waterfall she used to visit when she was a girl. When she climbs into the cave behind the waterfall, she is suddenly sucked in and when she emerges, she is surrounded by men wearing weird clothing and carrying swords. She runs away, running into a handsome man who claims that he is a pirate under the command of the ruthless pirate Blackbeard, who turns out to be her ally. She realizes that she is in the 1700's and she needs to find a way home. But after spending time on the Queen Anne's Revenge and it's all male crew, she discovers parts of herself that she isn't sure she wants to leave behind.
