Kylee Smith, new girl in Dammore High. She is the typical new girl, lonely, embarassed, and has a personal hoodie. Nate Ryler, school's drooling for him. He is perfect in every way, except for a special place that he keeps secret. Kylee and Nate meet up, and immedietly like each other. Kylee does not admit it, though, and refuses to. Nate, being himself, wants to test her, and teach her what love is, and he does that with a bet. He decides that it is safe to let her in his 'secret garden', and she loves it. They go there almost everyday, caring for the crops, playing guitar, and sketching. One day, Kylee sees someone she never thought she would see again, and the two fight, until something they care for disappears.

He brushed his lips against my jaw, his dark hair falling over his brow. "Open your eyes," he commanded. "Look at me." I followed his orders and looked into the raven-black depths before me. I saw my entranced gaze reflected in his glaring one. "Tell me what you see." I kept on looking at him, searching for something, anything, that remained of the person he used to be. They say the eyes are the windows to the soul. But his eyes were so dark, so empty . . . "Nothing. I see nothing," I whispered. He smirked, his gaze still on me. He pulled away, leaving me feeling cold. "Exactly. You see nothing - that's because there's nothing there." ** How much can a person change in just three years? Short and full of fiery spirit, Hanna Jordan is a gifted college student who is enrolled in one of the most prestigious culinary programs in the country. She's just returned from three years of study in France and is anxious to reconnect with her longtime friend, Rian Aronhalt. "Meeting you was the best coincidence of my life, whether you want to call that dumb luck or fate, but it makes me believe in something. And that something is us." *** Eris Rex: She's wild, snarky and always on her feet. Someone who looks her challenges in the face and tells them to fuck off. People are drawn to her, she's magnetic. It's as simple as that. Demetrius 'Zeno' Bonnes: He's awkward, silent and doesn't know what to do with himself. He's a mathematical genius but has no clue how to deal with people. He's half-deaf but not afraid to call someone out. Because of her blunt nature, too-honest tongue and loud laughter Eris is always seen as a bit odd but she could care less what people think. Friends are something Zeno struggles to make. So when he got the chance to help her and become her friend, he took it. And Eris wasn't about to let that opportunity slip between her fingers. However unlikely their pairing is, it's true that opposites attract as Zeno realizes just how cute Eris is when she goes red. And Eris realizes how fun it is to tease someone who never expected to be teased. Eris sees him as a shy, awkward nerd she wants to make confident. Zeno sees her as a tiny, sarcastic girl he's lucky to be friends with. As always, Eris doesn't care about getting in trouble during school if only for a little fun, and this time, she has Zeno to drag along with her. Neither of them knows how long they can keep the pretense of friends up. It's only a matter of time before one of them breaks.
