If I could breathe air I would walk to shore.
If I could live out these waters I'd live life.
If I could dream I'd dream of the sun and the moon.
If I could be human I'd give up everything.
If I could stand I'd run to you.

The law. The number one deceptive and vindictive reality of a mermaid is to kill their human lover. Anastasia the ocean's most beautiful and irresistible mermaid has had anything she has ever wanted.

The mermaid community believed that killing their human lover showed a sign of strength and extreme power, but to Anastasia it was plain cruel and she refused to accept any partake in the barbaric games.

This angered her father who cursed her and mercilessly kept her soul in a sea shell for two years and then abandoned her.

Two years later, she wakes up alone in the dark cursed sea. As months pass on she loses her hope and develops the crave to become human.

Not only, does she dream of having two legs but falls in love with a beautiful Italian boy who attends the prestigious private school not far from where she lived.

Through the eyes of Anastasia we see a true fantasy form. Not just a regular fantasy you read but the fantasy that has developed in her own mind of how true life is.

She has a wish. Wish granted.

Blood, and tears are spilled. Hearts are broken. New love forms. Secrets are unleashed. As the human world for her unfolds she begins to see the differences of both worlds.

The hardest part is surviving it and letting go of what started it all in the first place.

A true fantasy.

The Mermaid's Key: A Novella by JeremyBennett2

After his grandfather Theo's passing, James sets about clearing and cleaning up his grandfather's belongings before the estate sale when he runs into something peculiar. A box made of shells, worn shut with time, and hidden in the dark recesses of the past. The contents: a key, a brass heart, a journal and letters that leave behind a glimpse into a part of his grandfather's life that James never expected - a world of ancient magic, witches and wizards, mermaids and a love story strong enough to break any heart. The legends are real, partly. Atargatis, the first mermaid, was an ancient witch thrown into the sea by the hostile and fearful townspeople who didn't understand the magic they knew and sensed. What they didn't see was the consequences of their actions, Atargatis' use of magic and the creation of the mermaid with all of its magical abilities. Centuries later Ariana, a young daughter of the clan leader, lives her life in torment, torn between her love of everything under the ocean and the beauty of the boundless sky above. She discovers Theodore, a human, and falls so much in love that she can't fathom a life without him - an ideal that she will go to any length to stand by. What you think you know is but a small part of a much larger story, one that before now has never been told. Love is simply a transfer of energy from one of us to another, all of us connected in a web that we simply label "The Universe." Love and sacrifice have consequences, some which can never be foreseen.

Used to be called, "Mermaid Wish." (Magic in this world works differently than in my series, 'Tèarmann Chronicles')

A story similar to a classic fairy tale, but with a major twist ... What if the little mermaid were a deep sea merman instead? And what if the human he fell in love with went to live with him in the sea instead? Though born as a regular human on land, Henrietta always felt as if she were suffocating. She struggled to survive and belong among her kind. On a night when she sought to end her life at sea, she was rescued by Elsen, a merman who had once felt the same as her. Despite coming from different worlds, their shared experiences instantly built a bridge between them. When misfortune struck again, Henrietta lost her home and was driven to the edge once more. Seeing that she had nowhere else to go, Elsen brought her to his home in the deep sea. Although the ocean depths were tranquil and soothing, Henrietta's heart was still plagued with worries. And she soon discovered that Elsen also had yet to defeat his own demons. Will these two broken souls finally heal and come to love not only each other but themselves as well?
