I grew fond of this new book as I created the characters and their backstories. I also ended up drawing the characters, a lot. I hope that you'll like it as much as i liked writing and creating the characters!
Less than half the population on earth have an ability that has come to be known as "Auras". A person's Aura (if they have it) is very similar to the person's character/personality, or is somehow linked a person's past. Having or getting an Aura is not a hereditary trait, it's something that is triggered at some point or not at all.

Anyways I just wanna say that monochromacy is a colour blindness (different shades of Greys) and that it is incurable or you can have special glasses and or eye contacts, I also did a little research before writing this short story but if I do get anything wrong please kindly remind me. Also! Please don't romanticize these inherited genetic disorders, it's just a part of the character and will be mentioned once here and there.
