*Sequel to This New World We Live In*

Love is what we were born with. Fear is what we learned here.
~Marianne Williamson

Fear: An unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.

In this world, everything is a threat.

 Everything is dangerous.

Pain is everywhere.

Fear defines us. It can make us stronger, build us up, and allow us to decide our own fate. But fear can have fatal consequences. Fear can break us to the point where we're a pawn to the demons of our souls.

It can be the difference between standing up and fighting and living, or cowering in the corner and succumbing to the challenge. We fear violence more than our own feelings, but personal, private, solitary pain is more terrifying than what anyone else can inflict.

Katie Greene knows all about fear. It's taken over her life. She spends every second looking over her shoulder, being afraid of what is there, and what isn't. She's strong, but only to a certain point. She needs someone to help her get through this.

Daryl Dixon is that person. He feels her pain. He spent his childhood afraid of the monster that was his father. But with age, Daryl has learned to swallow his fear, and face it head-on, so it makes him, not breaks him. At first, Daryl didn't realize this, but now he knows, he needs her too.

When these two met, 186 days ago, they had no idea what their life would be like now. The man that once knew no fear, now suddenly has something to be frightened of, to worry about. The woman that spent her whole life afraid now has a reason to stay strong and fight.

But she is not yet cured.

There is a nagging in her mind telling her bad things are constantly going to happen, tormenting her and making her afraid.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Don't worry, don't fret, don't fear.

But, always remember.

No one is safe.

-ˏˋ ꜰᴏʀ ʏᴏᴜ, ɪ'ᴅ ꜱᴛᴇᴀʟ ᴛʜᴇ ꜱᴛᴀʀꜱ.ˊˎ- Elodie Price had never heard the soft breeze of the wind or the sound of birds singing in the trees. After losing her older brother and her mother, the world had become grey. Ten years old, and already the universe had stripped her of everything. She couldn't see any reason to keep moving, no one to protect her. The Walkers would find her soon enough. With her hearing loss, she wouldn't even hear them coming. She could barely hear the world screaming around her. Her mother had always been harsh - never quite satisfied with anything Elodie did - and her brother distant. The little bits of love that trickled through, the faint scraps of affection, always seemed to slip through her fingers like water. She didn't belong. Not to them, not to anyone. So when she had come to the conclusion that maybe it was her turn to go, she never expected anyone to care. She never expected anyone to save her. Certainly not someone like Daryl Dixon. 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰; ©𝙙𝙞𝙭𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙙: 𝙛𝙚𝙗. 𝟭𝟮 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙙: - updates set in season 4 (the earlier chapters truly suck in my opinion, so once you get to like chapter 10 or so it gets better :,P) DISCLAIMER: I do not own The Walking Dead, or its storyline.
