*Sequel to This New World We Live In*
Love is what we were born with. Fear is what we learned here.
~Marianne Williamson
Fear: An unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.
In this world, everything is a threat.
Everything is dangerous.
Pain is everywhere.
Fear defines us. It can make us stronger, build us up, and allow us to decide our own fate. But fear can have fatal consequences. Fear can break us to the point where we're a pawn to the demons of our souls.
It can be the difference between standing up and fighting and living, or cowering in the corner and succumbing to the challenge. We fear violence more than our own feelings, but personal, private, solitary pain is more terrifying than what anyone else can inflict.
Katie Greene knows all about fear. It's taken over her life. She spends every second looking over her shoulder, being afraid of what is there, and what isn't. She's strong, but only to a certain point. She needs someone to help her get through this.
Daryl Dixon is that person. He feels her pain. He spent his childhood afraid of the monster that was his father. But with age, Daryl has learned to swallow his fear, and face it head-on, so it makes him, not breaks him. At first, Daryl didn't realize this, but now he knows, he needs her too.
When these two met, 186 days ago, they had no idea what their life would be like now. The man that once knew no fear, now suddenly has something to be frightened of, to worry about. The woman that spent her whole life afraid now has a reason to stay strong and fight.
But she is not yet cured.
There is a nagging in her mind telling her bad things are constantly going to happen, tormenting her and making her afraid.
The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
Don't worry, don't fret, don't fear.
But, always remember.
No one is safe.

Carl's world crashed down around him when he picked up the letter covered in black ink and broken promises. He is left with nothing but the shattered memories of the girl that left him because she believed that it would save them both in the end.
With Lauren gone, life seemed a little more dull. Nothing brought him excitement because she wasn't there to enjoy it with him. Carl is left chasing after the breadcrumbs that Lauren left behind on her trail to find herself. After all, he would gamble with his life if she held the cards.
One long journey and one million possible problems.
But after everything he has gone through, will he find what he was looking for?

"That's what they say about soulmates, that their hearts beat together. Carl knew that if her heart stopped beating, his would too."
