"My name is Elizabeth. No middle or last name, just Elizabeth. Not that that’s the name I commonly use. Only when the government officials come round. My friends usually call me Lizzy, but they never stay long. When the doctors, guards or anybody else talks to me, I’m referred to as Twelve. The doctors usually don’t last long either. They end up missing sooner or later. Exterminated. Not a record of them left."
