It is derived from the metaphor that a butterfly flapping its wings can change the weather from a sunny sky to a horrid storm. At least, that's what I remember learning in class. It caught my eye for some reason and I paid attention even harder than usual. But I never could have predicted that I could cause not one, but many butterfly effects.
