The Dragon Under The Hill
23 parts Complete THE DRAGON UNDER THE HILL is primarily historical fiction with a fantasy twist. As a character driven, poetic, coming of story set in rural Wales in the 1930s it would sit alongside novels like 'How green was my valley' or 'Goodnight Mister Tom' with the fantasy twist more akin to 'Eragon'. I believe it would appeal to anyone who has gone through any of the feelings of change and awkwardness a person goes through leaving childhood behind, anyone who remembers their first crush, those who enjoy historical fiction or strong characters and those who enjoy a fantasy 'what if?' situation.
In THE DRAGON UNDER THE HILL, 12 year old Jack is reluctantly sent spend the summer with his grandparents on a rural hill farm in West Wales. His misgivings grow in this strange place and strange people, compounded by a community under threat from an unscrupulous Government representative. Although there exists one point of interest, the mysterious cairn at the top of the hill that, despite being forbidden and the threat of a vicious wild dog, fascinates Jack. When the secret of the ancient cairn is revealed it changes Jack and the characters he meets forever.
