The darkness lurks in every corner of this world and the next. A terrible evil has descended our world, death and disease run wild and everything we know is peering over the edge of chaos and anarchy. Corruption is rotting away at the very foundations of our society and when the shadows advance there is nowhere to hide. The home of The Sanctus was created with our world, these beings were blessed with divine power. The ability to bring balance and good to earth and protect and nurture the light all beings are blessed with. It was their job to protect us, from the darkness, from ourselves. But now it seems they have abandoned us. Darkness settles on the souls of the vulnerable and future seems bleak and terrifying. When the divine surrender to profane and the lines between right and wrong seem to blur in the inky night, it is left to the tainted to search for the last light. The last hope for humanity. For all of us.

The illusion of life and the desire for power often cloud us. They change our views, bias our hearts, justify our wars. But even though power demands payment, will that stop you from fighting for your dreams? In a universe where gods run rampant, mages decide the flow of history, and eldritch horrors hide in the darkest crevices of creation. Power and the right to command it and its consequences is earned, bled for, died for. Does the fire of hope shine bright, or does it burn black? Where evil boasts its name aloud and good slinks away wretchedly in the shadows, will you bend your knee? Or will you ascend and join the mighty legends? What is a king to a god? What is a god, to a non-believer?
