Soft, sweet, melodic words left Lance's lips as he looked over to Keith. Keith sang along with him, looking over to Lance with a subtle smile. The strum of the guitar was couldn't even be heard over Keith's rapid heartbeat.
He's so amazing, Keith thought, as the song came to an end. With the last strum of the strings, Lance and Keith were left looking at each other. Keith was captivated by his mesmerizing blue eyes. Soon enough. Lance found himself leaning closer to Keith, his eyes saying something Keith didn't understand. Keith ended up doing the exact same, their lips merely millimeters apart. Eyes fluttering closed, Keith could feel Lance's warmth already, he felt how close he was.
There it was, their lips connected. Soft, warm, sweet, it left Keith's heart racing.
"Cut!!"
But their lips only merely brushed.
"I don't care what Hunk said," Keith interrupted, his voice sharper this time. "You don't owe anyone an explanation. If you want to be with Allura, go for it. But make sure it's because you want to, not because you think you should. If Allura asks you out, just say yes or no. You don't owe anyone anything when it comes to your feelings."
Lance looked up at Keith, his blue eyes searching for something in his face. Keith's heart gave an unexpected jolt, but he didn't let it show. Instead, he slowly rested his head against Lance's, both of them turning their attention to the sunset as it deepened in color. Keith couldn't hold Lance's gaze for too long.
"Okay," Lance murmured, shifting to get more comfortable against Keith.
Lance stared out at the horizon. "Everything's so beautiful out here."
"It is," Keith agreed, his voice quieter now.
(What if Lance had frozen and couldn't ask Allura out on a date in Season 8, Episode 1? Instead, Lance realizes his feelings for Keith and asks him out on a date. This is my take on fixing Voltron and writing what I believe should have happened.)
