Ten Thousand Years

Xander was abused by his alcoholic father as a child. He suffered silently for years, until his 18th birthday. Without a second thought he enlisted, and figured that if he went down fighting, his father might finally be proud of him. However, when he recklessly endangers himself, his best friend is there to save him. But the price Xander pays for his rashness is a steep one; one he's not willing to live with.
