These are snippets of scenes from a sci-fi/solarpunk story I'm working on. Pardon the ridiculous cover image-- I modeled my alien race after otters (with some other aquatic mammal traits as well) and someone made the joke about "otter space" and it stuck.
I am posting this for archival and beta-reading purposes. This is an UNFINISHED WORK, so please read at your own discretion. Newer content may be added over time.

Desperate people will do desperate things to survive. Wealth, privilege, and power don't always lead to happiness. Money can't buy everything, but freedom has a heavy price tag. Family dynamics can be a royal pain. Love can be a choice. Fang knows trouble. Alien moneylenders, late rent, unpaid debts and generational poverty have all driven her to make a lot of really bad choices - including taking a last-minute job entertaining a wealthy Drass in hopes that she'll make enough cash to escape freezing Anun and start over. Again. Her client is an odd one, but at least he's sweet, gentle and surprisingly cute for a species that looks like a cross between a demon and a dragon, horns and all. After a night of delicious wine, soft kisses and blistering passion Fang drifts off to dreams of warm clothes, regular meals and a place she can call home. Valen has it all: money, power, a name that guarantees him a life of ease and unimaginable luxury - but he leads a lonely, purposeless life in his father's house and his only friends are paid to look after him. So when a human woman appears in his bedroom, nude and claiming to be his birthday present, he can't help but wonder if he's finally gone mad. But she is real, she is lovely, and she is his for the night. For now Valen can forget who he is, and as he falls asleep with her in his arms he dreams of her becoming a more frequent visitor. Dawn reveals a horrifying truth, and two strangers are forced to put their trust in each other amid a web of secrets, lies, politics and familial strife. Going Undercover With a Yikver
I need that promotion. So what if I have to pretend to be a whore? So what if I have to prance around in little clothing, go around flirting, and deal with dangerous men? It's all to take the Raven's down and get that damn promotion. Only problem is my partner... he's a Yeikver, an alien whose ancestors came to earth years ago seeking refuge and caused mayhem once they landed. If my parents knew, they'd chain me to their house to prevent me from going on with my assignment. It's a good thing I didn't tell them, then. Now I'm dancing in clubs, pretending to be a Yikver's whore, and coming closer to one than I have ever before in my entire life. And the crazy thing is... maybe Yeikver's aren't as bad as I was raised to believe. Maybe there really are two sides to every story. Well, here's mine... *Mature content* ... very mature.. Like, descriptive, omgggggg, ahhhhhh, mature... Enjoy! hehehe P.S I know the cover sucks, listen I tried. There's descriptions in the book, I hope you do a better job of picturing it than I did editing it lol Also, please keep in mind I wrote the first chunk of the story in one go and then edited it once before uploading. Then finished the rest in another go and once again, edited it once before uploading it. Take this story for what it is; a romance with alien smut lol. I feel like I tried to make it realistic and avoid silly grammar errors but its definitely no Nobel Prize haha. I thought adding the whole undercover spy aspect to the story would make it more interesting but surprise surprise... I'm not actually a spy! And I don't have a brain like one either lol. Unfortunately. But yeah, I tried and many readers seemed to enjoy the story so I'll tell myself it was decently written hahaComplete

Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. This is my take on those stories that have only one human male on a planet full of anthros. You know the ones, where a nuke, virus, or/and war that destroyed the human race except for one and for some unexplain reason ten years later furries rule the earth with a fully functioning government and technology. Oh, and sometimes this human has all the powers of comics and mange for also unexplained reason or another. With every character is spelled out on these bio picks before you even read the story, ruining any suspension or mystery the story could have. Sorry, went on a little rant but I have a hard time reading those kinds of stories, so I decided to make my own. So the actual story; A human crash landed onto a alien world where the dominant species are ten feet tall female wolves. Now he have to survive this warrior world that seeks to use him or destroy him, but under his meek facade is something much more then any one could imagine. Hope you enjoy.
