Frank had been persuaded to join marching band by his best friend, Lizzy Hale. The schools most popular guard member. Many people watched the halftime shows just because of her.
Frank was a retired baritone player. He played throughout his middle school career, but hadn't touched it since.
He walks into the room and sees Gerard, his new drum major, sitting on the podium, and Frank gets the sudden urge to impress him.
