The Mechanic

Anna has only ever wanted to live the normal life of a mechanic, fixing the machines that run the world. Unfortunately for her, she was born as a Celestial, a rare type of human with powers that defy logic. Each Celestial has a unique ability, called a gift, that they can use at any time. Some can control fire, fly, and a couple can even use light itself as a weapon.
Not surprisingly, most governments and corporations will do just about anything to secure a Celestial. Few care about human rights when the power of a demigod is at stake.
Anna soon finds herself on the center of a power struggle in the middle of the empire she has spent the last 3 years hiding from. Senators and CEOs maneuver for political superiority, rebels wreak chaos across the nation, and the Emperor's family struggles to hold it all together. And from the shadows, a mysterious faction manipulates them all with no clear goal.
