this is a short story of mine that i wrote because i just felt the need to. it's about a young girl who be-friends an elderly man that sits on a bench outside her apartment everyday. he says he's waiting for his girl to get off the bus stop from across the street and she can't figure out why he still waits when she's not coming. it ends on a sad but touching scene that i hope you'll all like.

Call me nosy but I just really can't help it! Apparently my best friend, a member of the basketball team, suddenly quits just to take care of her neighbor! I thought it was because of Cherry so it's not much an issue. She then shows up at school after a whole week with a guy on a wheelchair. She refuses to talk to her usual friends and even to me! I tried finding out why and it turns out that her neighbor lost a leg and his father's life in a bus accident and my bff believes that it was all her fault. Stupid of her, isn't it? No matter what I do or say she still believes that she was the one at fault. Being her friend, her BEST friend, I just accepted her beliefs and tried to befriend her neighbor. Now it's been two years and my dear friend is still with wheelchair guy. I often wonder why she's still with him but after taking note of their actions I got to conclude that my bff has a cute little crush on wheelchair guy... So I did something. Sorry Remy, but if I won't take action you two will just be awkward friends forever! And I won't let that happen. I was 13 when I started drinking alcohol for fun. 14 the first time I took ecstasy at a college party I snuck into, the same age I lost my virginity. This was the first time I went to a mental institution because it's also the year I first tried to kill myself. 15 the first time I smoked meth, took a bump of cocaine, shot myself up with heroine. This was the first time I got sent to rehab, it didn't work and I came out worse. I was 16 when I tried to commit three times in the same year, the last time I got my heart to stop for 30 seconds. That year was also the first time I snorted Hydrocodone, getting me started in opiates, I experimented with Xanax and liked it. And I was a month from 17 when I got sober. - "Fuck you." I snap. "She's right! She's right! I don't cut in the right spot." My hold tightens on my wrist. The red blood oozes out of my wrist. I slide up and grab my bag and run out of the bathroom. I don't care if people can see the blood I just want to get out. I race for the doors and shove through people. I earn a lot of glares and glances that read "weirdo." I ignore and push. I run to my house and lock myself in my bathroom. I don't bother closing the front door cause I don't care if people come in to kill me. I grab my razor and cut deep cuts into my arm and wrists falling into a pool of my own blood. • • • Evangeline has a great life. Friends? Check! Good grades? Check! Loving family? Check!
