Death Note- reinvented

Ryuk is once again bored in the Shinigami realm. Wishing to have some fun, he consults the gods of life for the 'life note' (A.N. I'm not sure if that's a thing, but it's important to this fan [FAN, I DO NOT OWN DEATH NOTE] fiction). He writes down the names of the two most interesting people he knows- Light Yagami and L Lawleit. Intending to live the fun again only a decade or so later, Ryuk expects Light to once again pick up the Death Note, and for Kira to be back so soon. But what happens when someone else gets to the death note first?
