FBI agent Fox Mulder is working a case, just like any other he has. Then he meets Avery, a nineteen year old girl who witnessed the crime he is investigating. Avery ends up having to take refuge at his apartment, as part of her protective custody. She begins to take a liking to the agent and she couldn't imagine anywhere else she'd feel more safe, than with him.
Mulder takes a liking to the girl as well, feeling especially protective over her. His partner Scully takes the lead on the case and he personally watches over Avery.
