The fire goes out, and the crystal ball falls onto the table with a loud crack as it hits the wood. Where is Elsie?, is all I'm able to think at the moment. My heart leaping out my chest, I sit still, my breath a little disjointed and uneven. It's absolutely quiet now--now that my thoughts are silenced. The only thing I can hear is the pumping of my heart. And it's loud. I'm filled with panic, and what makes it worse is there's someone next to me.
