Every bartender in town knows Mark, the raucous drunk who never runs out of crazy stories to tell. He's easy to spot, since he's a few generations younger than most regular bar patrons, and he's easy to remember, since he's such a big tipper.

They know Mark to be the caricature of an average, every-day drunk, minus thirty or forty years.

Mark doesn't know much about himself - or much of anything, for that matter. But he's pretty sure about one thing: he's invincible.

After years of living a life of detachment from the rest of the world, a series of events and a hodgepodge of acquaintances force Mark to stand up to his own mortality, or be run over by it.

Will Mark's story have a happy ending, and does he even know what one would look like?

  The answer: probably not.

This Young Adult novel is about the lives of teen brothers who must deal with a decision that changes the course of their lives and shatters their family connection. The twin brothers must learn to unearth hurt, secrets, and misunderstandings to start their family's healing process. "...there were a lot of things I was forced to learn and that made me resent my family for it. One of them is the fact that I learned more about family at rehab than I ever did when I was home." - Lincoln "I always had this plan. A plan where I would graduate high school with the highest GPA, get a full-ride baseball scholarship to Stanford University, and then work my way to the major league baseball teams. It was a plan I had made with Lincoln when we were younger. A dream we shared to play baseball together. A dream that died when he overdosed." - Liam

The past carries an unjust history. Immoral actions mark the present. The future holds untold consequences. Bad things happen to good people, and good people do bad things. | | || ||| ||||| |||||||| ||||||||||||| You, of all people, should understand the obsession. Whether it's the endless hours lost to a screen, the compulsion to scroll through forums, the need for that next high, the haunting grip of past trauma, the fixation on someone unattainable, the pursuit of a fleeting feeling, or even the inexplicable attachment to something as simple as frogs-obsession has woven itself into every corner of your life. •__ •_ •• •_• •_• • •••• / ••_ • •_• I have done terrible things because I let obsession take over me. It wasn't always that way. It started as a lie; it became true one day. I told myself I was in control and could stop anytime, but I only lied to myself. I was powerless. I never wanted to hurt anyone; I hurt him and myself. Now, I'm left with the wreckage of my choices. I wonder if there's any way to get things back to how they were before. To us, they are just another random person: the letters carved on the table, the artist of old graffiti, the person who also walked into the restroom, the reason the trash is full, or the garbage thrower on the side of the streets. But to them, they're the main fucking character in their own story, and each mark, item, digital trace, and photo they have makes a fragment of their existence. We may never know their face or name, but the traces they left remind us that everyone's lives intersect, creating a vast web of connections; unnoticed or not, they are never truly invisible. Ethan was... not at a good place, quite honestly. Because, well, it wasn't like there was any hope for him in the future. His channel was failing, he had no friends, and the experimental gap year he had taken was... not doing the best. May as well kill himself now before everything got worse (if that was even possible). But, of course, his future was bright. Ethan just didnt know that yet. And if the entity that appeared in (what was supposed to be) his final hour had any say in this, Ethan definitely wasn't going to die tonight. He just needed hope. TW for self harm, depression, and suicide, especially in the first chapter (everything's better by the end, just be warned). Please stay safe as you read this, for both of our sakes.
