As Sam and the others return to Skrimonn, and everything returns to normal, it begins to get out of control. Soon after Irys becomes known as a queen, they sever the link between fantasy and science fiction, and Origin and Riptide are finally at peace. But Sam's school headmaster is forced to send Sam yet on another assignment regarding a mysterious ring of mountains in Hyperion, and seven lords that guard a powerful entity and her guardian. Sam must find the Six Songs of Enchanting, and must traverse an ancient landscape full of magical creatures to succeed.
Meanwhile, two of the Counts are plotting a grand search for an ultimate genie treasure- The Three Wishes. John must reunite his three friends from the tragically disbanded league of pirates, just recently come back from the dead, and must intercept the Counts to the treasure before all is lost.

Once inside the maze, they will need to solve a series of puzzles to continue the quest, with death being the penalty for each wrong answer. Nobody is safe, as one of Tor's brothers finds out the hard way, and Tor discovers that he cannot trust all of his friends when he uncovers a betrayal. A chance remark leads to one of the team finding out that the quest has a twist, making it even more deadly than any of those taking part could ever have imagined. Mountford leaves them some tools and hints to aid them on their quests, as they run from the queen, and the disappearances.
