There's a war going on between the Siracius and the Cabal. The Siracius fight for justice and freedom. The girl's family and majority of her race were killed off by the Cabal, who fight for power and order. Two conflicting parties. The boy, who she somehow allowed to come alone with her, was  just a regular citizen who was obsessed with dragons. Well, just don't piss him off.
"He was quite the extraordinary. His green eyes contrasted against his dark skin, which in turn, contrasted with the snow that fell around them. He looked at her with such wonder. She flashed a warm smile, and noticed his eccentric appearance. Ah yes, the first boy she'd kill."
