Imagine, after generations of constant pollution and a nuclear holocaust, that life on Earth was slowly dying out. Life will soon cease to exist due to toxins in the air, destroying the human body from the inside out. Imagine a dystopian world where the earth is sick due to human destruction and overdevelopment. Imagine the last of us just barely breathing on.
Struggling to care for his young daughter at just 17, Grey is apart of the generation that has evolved to thrive in toxic environments only for so long. With his young husband on his death bed, Grey struggles just to feed his daughter let alone himself. As he carries out his day to day work, the love his life remains terminally ill bed bound in the hospital. This is a short story of a dying world and a young man pushing on.

All is peaceful until the pair discover a plot bigger than them both that threatens to rip the city itself in half. INSIGHT ON MAI DIARY
The "Please..." I hear her whimper and I go into full panic mode. "Calm down, okay? Deep breaths. Don't hang up. I'll be with you soon. Where are you?" I rush as I grab the car key sitting on the glass table. I run into the garage with my dad behind me. "What do you need?" Dad asks "A room. A big one." He runs back inside as I hear her voice again. "Basement...blood...Elle..." I hear sounds of movement in the background and connect the dots. Elle's bleeding, or something... "Deep breaths baby, deep breaths. It's okay, you're okay" I murmur reassuring words to her, thankful that there's no traffic. Several thoughts run through my mind as I drove to her house. The last time we spoke, she could barely stand me, but now she's calling me. I feel kinda used, but now's not the time to think about that. I reach her house in a matter of minutes and shove the door open. The house is quiet, save for my heavy breathing and footsteps. I reach the basement and take in the sight in front of me. No one really knew how X's came to be. One day there weren't any, the next day half the population was wiped out. All Karma knew was that they are technological monsters, fit to be the world's biggest weapon, after the splitting particle ray which could reduce any person into air particles in a millisecond. Karma realised how simple it would be to destroy an army even with one X. They were practically indestructible, perfect killing machines, only they'd turned on the government, apparently. Or maybe those bastards had escaped perfectly unharmed, watching how the country was being destroyed. Maybe it was an excuse for overpopulation. xx-xx Karma has been trying to survive for over a year, but it's difficult when X's, mechanical killing machines, roam the streets, hungry for human flesh.
