Carter Watkins, a girl who lived in an abusive household with a father that couldn't put down the bottle and a mother too afraid to leave. Wesley Johnson, a boy next door who saw what was going on and couldn't do anything about it. Both of them best friends since they could talk. He saw her slowly breaking, but still decided to leave for the dream job he was after. He said he would come back for her, she believed him. That was a mistake.
