During the Dawes Act of 1887 when Native Americans were losing their land to the "pale-faced" ones.
When a young Navajo girl at the age of fourteen wakes up in her village to see it gouged in flames, its up to her years later to make sure her people stay safe when the Mohawk Indians take the Navajos into their village. The young girl named Nizhoni(Ni-zhon-eh) knows its all up to her.
