Maybe it was her laugh. Maybe it was her eyes. Maybe it was her smile. Whatever it was, I was madly infatuated with her.

I've never truly met her before, but I've been watching her since I was fourteen. She was ten at the time, and now she's going to college. I'm very proud of her.

I knew she wouldn't give me a second of her time if she knew who I was, but she will listen to me. I gave her a very generous gift, and she accepted it. So now she has to play by the rules. My rules.

It's simple really. I find a way to deliver a note to her and she has a week to accomplish the goal. If she doesn't? Well, it depends on what I see fit.

"Why are you obsessed with her?" You may ask. I wouldn't say I'm obsessed. I just want her to know she is mine and no one else can have her. See? I'm not obsessed. If I were obsessed, she'd be with me. But I'm granting her freedom unless she breaks my rules.

Good luck, Melanie Isabella Brown. And let the games begin.

Book #4 in the "Bloodlines & Ashes" series (Can be read as a standalone) I had a plan: Go to college, have lots of sex, and eventually become a doctor. Simple, right? Yeah, well, that was the idea until a family secret came out and flipped my whole world upside down. Fast forward to an accident and a kidney transplant later; I'm left wondering who the hell I even am anymore. That's when she came tumbling into my life. A red-haired stranger on the hospital rooftop, barging into my existential crisis, dragging me-literally-away from the edge. (For the record, I wasn't going to jump. Probably.) She's beautiful, fiery, and...insanely frustrating. She refused to tell me her name, declared my parents must be gay, and walked away like she didn't just turn my entire world upside down. Sounds like the start of a great love story, doesn't it? Here's the problem: she doesn't think so. She's immune to my charm, dismisses me as some campus jock, and seems entirely uninterested in giving me the time of day. Naturally, her rejection only makes me more determined to prove her wrong. Enter the deal: tutoring sessions, gingerbread lattes, and endless chances to show her that I'm more than just a guy with good hair and charm. Her story? I need to know it.
Her trust? I'll earn it. But the closer I get, the more I realize I'm in way over my head. Because, like they say, too much ginger can give you heartburn-and my heart? It's already hanging by a thread.

"You dropped this." I heard a husky voice say. I turned around to look at what I dropped and realized it was my schedule. I gasped. Damn, I would have been fucked if I'd lost it. I guess I didn't put it in my bag... I looked up to thank him, but ended up not being able to find my voice. He's really attractive. Drop dead gorgeous attractive. Hot. He has brown hair that is spiked up in a messy way and shiny chocolate brown eyes that are hard not to stare at. His jawline was firm and he is extremely tall compared to my 5'3" height; he seems like he's 6'1". He looks in good shape -- the white shirt he was wearing showed off his broad muscular chest. He wore a leather-mans jacket from the school over the t-shirt, with black denim jeans, and converse. I swallowed. I snapped out of it and took the paper forcing myself to say "thanks." However, he walked away before I even finished. OK... he obviously isn't interested in the 'new girl' like all the other students are. I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. Out of all the guys that have hit on me in school today he is the only one that has caught my eye -- bad news is that he didn't even bother. "You know him? I'm surprised the cheer-bitch hasn't threatened you yet." Jessica said, her face showing shock. "Um, no I don't know him... and cheer-bitch?" I frowned confused. "She's his ex-girlfriend, but considering she has such a small brain that is a size of a peanut, she won't leave him alone. I mean like seriously, EX; has she not heard of that quote, 'Thanks for the EXperience, Our time has EXpired, now EXit my life.' She is one clueless bimbo. Then again who would leave him alone he is S-E-X-Y!" I laughed. "I am going to love being your friend." I said while I looked back to where he had headed a while ago, but I no longer saw him. I sighed disappointed.

I was never meant to fall for her, and I didn't-I became obsessed. She was the daughter of my father's enemy - a girl born into the wrong bloodline, hidden beneath a name that never should've been hers. That night, I found more than just a face. I found lies. Secrets. A mystery the world wasn't supposed to uncover. So I did what I do best. I watched. I followed. I tore through every piece of her past until I knew her better than she knew herself. And on her eighteenth birthday, I came back to take what I'd been waiting for. Hours before I touched her, my father was announced dead. Every shred of evidence pointed to her bloodline - to the man who raised her. Her father. But, his presence at her birthday party only deepened the mystery and I was driven to uncover the truth. In the name of love, I made her cross lines she never imagined. I twisted her desires. Broke her limits. Pushed her into a world she didn't ask to enter. And now that she's here, I'll burn down everything that tries to take her away. The deeper I drag her into my darkness, the more I realize I'm not the only one watching. There are others-lurking behind masks, hidden in shadows, waiting for their moment. Maybe it was never just my story. Maybe I was just the beginning. I forced her to make choices no one should ever face. And she followed-blindly, breathlessly-because in her world, I became the only thing that felt real. But nothing here is real. Not love. Not loyalty. Not even the family you were born into. Everything is twisted. Everything is a lie. And in a world where masks are worn better than truth, you can't trust anyone-not even your own self. She thought this story began with me. But what she doesn't know is that she's the one at the center of it all. This isn't just an obsession. This is a war. And she's the one everyone wants to destroy. And I am Zayn Rev Vincent. Her monster who's going to protect her-even if I'm the most dangerous thing she'll ever need protection from.
