Three countries, three very different lifestyles. Aenyr and Yildirim, two of the three countries, face their differences in economic circumstances, and their views on magic. As a group of scouts from the magicless country of Yildirim ride into Aenyr from the west, they happen upon a particularly interesting and magically gifted group of young adults that they can decide whether to fight with, or fight against.
