A quazi artificial life form, whose only experience with life has been the humans from the lab that created him, meets a mermaid but all his mind can think is "I must be malfunctioning." The Mermaid must bring him in dead or alive but capture him she must lest the world  of the humans that live above the oceans depths discover, that they, the merfolk, are real. This is the story of directives, will, Magic, and the true meaning of what it is to be human, and what love and the endless wonders of the depths of the sea can bring ...that of life and also death.
