Jane is a stubborn seventeen year old girl, she has been since she was young. One night her parents have a work gathering to go to, and Jane is not allowed to tag along. Jane sees that as an opportunity to stay home alone for the first time ever, she doesn't see that it might be dangerous. In fact, to her nothing is dangerous. Her parents don't allow her to stay home alone, but Jane is very stubborn. She disregards her parents warnings, as always, and whips up a plan to stay home alone with out any "stupid baby-sitter". Danger is not in Jane's vocabulary, after all, it only happens in the movies.
Jane Donald isn't exactly Florida material. She is pale, therefore she doesn't like sunlight because she gets burned too easily, she doesn't like salt water because it's just weird, and most of all, she hates the high temperatures. Coming from the depths of the cold and snowy Michigan, Jane only wants to prove to her parents she can survive without their help. Spite is literally the only reason Jane would put herself through this hell. Jane is as awkward as one can be. Just a complete, clumsy fool. Until she meets Carter Smith. Then she's even more awkward and crazy. But crazy comes in many forms.... *1st book in The Awkward Series*
