She gripped the baseball bat tighter in her hands and, rotated her hips as she swung at the menacing form charging her way.

“First, you aim for the knees. It forces him below you; giving you the power while still allowing him the illusion of being able to get away” 

Alicia smiled as she heard a satisfying crack followed quickly by a moan and a resounding thud. She spun away – retreating for a better angle and more room to maneuver.  The room he had trapped her in was barely more than a bathroom.

How did she manage to get herself into this situation?

Waiting until she thought they had left, she got out and started running back to her car. Right before she reached her car, a hand reached out and pulled her back into the shadows of the trees. The hand stayed over her mouth as she watched people surround and look inside her car. Swaying, she snapped a twig grabbing the attention of the people near her vehicle. The person holding her quickly reacted by pulling her behind him as he ran through the woods. They ran past more people with guns and into a vehicle waiting for them. Thinking she's safe and now allowed to go home, she sighs. That's far from the truth.

You'll hit your head on the rock or something. Wren, please!" It knew her name. Somehow it knew her. She was going to die! "Let me go! Stop touching me!" She was sitting on the rocky floor now with her back against an uneven wall, and it was trying to pin her down and hold her still. She kept her eyes turned away and struggled helplessly, but it was no use. It was strong like a human man too, and she couldn't keep it off of her. The wings had moved until they curved around them both and shut out a lot of the light. Its face was so near hers that she could feel its breath brushing against her skin. "Please just look at me for a second. Just look. I'm not going to hurt you." One of the hands grabbed her chin and forced her head to turn, and then she was looking straight into a pair of dark brown eyes. It had a human face too. She had been expecting something monstrous or ghastly, and the surprise made her falter for a moment. He looked young, with a bad haircut and an earnest expression on his face. "I'll let go of you, okay? Just don't lunge around like that anymore, you'll get hurt." He whispered.

Just know that if you don't come with me, you could come home to find that your parents are dead because of a work accident or some other natural cause. You wouldn't want that would you?" He paused just one more time and began speaking again. "If you come with me today, your parents won't have to die. I can keep them safe. If you don't give me an answer, I'll have my creature kill your parents now and I'll still take you. Do you want dead parents or living parents? It's your choice." Amelia came out of the bay window seat compartment. She was trying to hide her fear and anger. She didn't care what happened to her but she didn't want her parents to die because of her. She took a deep breath. "Fine . . . I'll come with you." He smiled smugly, "Smart choice. There's no need to be afraid of me. Your parents are safe now and I won't hurt you." "It's because you need me for my abilities." She said more of a fact than a question. She knew he wouldn't kill her because he needed her. "Correct. Now, let's tell your parents the good news."
