"How can malevolence turn to benevolence, and contempt to content in a matter of seconds? How is it that a man can experience six different emotions when he has only known of five? More importantly, how is it even possible that a man experiences six different emotions, most which are antithetical, at the same time? How can a man feel love and hatred, curiosity and neglect-a process of doublethink? Hello, my name is John Stephen Vauldert and I'm a pessimist."

At 17 and still in High School, John is the product of life's emotional and physical disrupt upon individuals, leaving him completely alone in the world. A shy, yet thoughtful being, Stephen is often faced with conflicting perspectives about the world, often blaming the source of his fatalist being on a past that is not yet forgotten.

It all changes, however, when John meets a mysterious girl who revives his long-abandoned humanity and positivism in the world. But is it possible for John to accept these alien feelings when all he has known is hatred and cynicism?
