Dave Strider, age 13, had to move from Texas because his brother was abusive. He went to live with his (sorta) sister, Rose Lalonde, in California. What he didn't know, is that he'd be going to the same school as his internet friend, Karkat Vantas - who he obviously has the biggest crush on - but the bad part there is.. He introduced himself to Karkat as Dave. His real name.. Is Elizabeth. He had never come out to anyone as being trans, though he told his internet friends he was male, and that his name was Dave. So, he's never transitioned, since he's never told anyone. The problem is, he'd see Karkat at school now. And he would have to avoid him as much as he possibly could, so he wouldn't know it was really him, since he didn't want anyone knowing he was trans.
WARNING - Cursing and self harm are common themes, among other mature topics.

Jace thinks Alec is a jackass know-it-all, and Alec thinks Jace is annoying and throws his personality in everyone's faces. Those seem like very small or petty things that they could easily overcome by having a conversation, but both are too stubborn for that. It is a mutual hate that neither will give up. Karkat Vantas. A very unpopular, short, and short-tempered troll. He tries desperately to make it through his first year in a human school, but with everyone still not fully accepting trolls added on with his so-called 'stupid' blood color, he can't find a single person who understands him, yet. Dave Strider. Maybe one of the most popular guys in the school. Nobody knows why he's always wearing those cool ironic shades of his, and most people want to find out. But Dave himself wants his eyes to stay hidden, and nobody else has ever seen them. He thinks that if anyone did, they would make fun of him and his good reputation would immediately disappear. The two, basically opposites, find that they actually might get along and relate to each other. But who knows what a simple sentence could do?
