     	EARTH FLIGHT is the 2nd book in a series with EARTH SHIFT being the first.  A quick primer on that book's story is as follows: Ethan is a thirteen  year old boy who lives in a settlement, in what used to be central California.  The world and society in general have been dealt a catastrophic blow resulting in the destruction of most cities, their populations and nearly all technology.  It is 2046 but for Ethan it may as well be 1846.   As young boy he grew up conversing with his grandfather but discovered only he can see and hear him. 
     	Meanwhile...Ethan's mother becomes dangerously ill due to an ever dwindling supply of insulin, which can no longer be produced.  His ghost-like grandfather tells him about a substantial supply located in the Los Angeles area, now a hellish fiefdom.  Ethan along with several others travel down the coast and through the destruction wrought by the global catastrophe on their journey to obtain the insulin she needs.  Along the way they encounter dangers, both natural and technological.  Ethan learns just how far he has to go to save his mother while discovering uncomfortable truths and abilities which amaze and frighten him. The boy, desperate to find someone to help him save his sister, leaves the city and finds one of the youngest cooperative packs in North America, called the Raiders, comprised of unwanted individuals with the strange powers left from the destruction of years past. Their leader, a destructive insomniac, promises to help him in return for the skills and usefulness this young boy seems to possess, but something disrupting sends waves of unease through the Raiders, something about a forgotten past and talk of a mutiny.
