But one seemingly normal day at the orphanage sends him flying into an unexpected journey of magic and adventure when he is visited by his previously unknown uncle, Otis Shadow. Jack soon finds out from Otis that he is a powerful magician like the rest of his family of the past and he is faced with an enemy he never would have expected. He embarks on a huge mission to keep the powerful magician that killed his parents, the outlaw Drake Thorn, away from the power of his parents' legendary Golden Watch. He must team up with some friend to try and stop Thorn before he steals the Golden Watch from Jack that has the potential to destroy the world, or maybe even save it...

What to expect from a world that decides how much you are worth, from the moment you are born? That values you not for your skin or income, but for what you can offer to benefit another. This story explores the idea of a society built on the presence of shapeshifting individuals who are forced to exist forever in the context of others as eternal servants. Adding to the shackles placed on them since birth, they also face the rejection of many members of society, who believe submission is not enough of a punishment for disregarding the natural order. With Vane left to his luck after his father's sudden disappearance during a mission, he must push forward on his academic life, ensuring a place on the Metaphorm Bureau and a chance to find out the truth behind this wicked world of his. Accompanied by his friends, he is persistent in doing the most to achieve his goals. Unfortunately, they become the focus of one of the big players, whose target is their very own shapeweavers. Unwilling to give them up, they'll enter the wolf's den to stop the threat once and for all. "Oh, but do you have what it takes? This is no longer a child's play, so sit and be witness to this mighty festival, for this is the year of the Champion's Ascent. Our mighty warrior has arrived, do you have the heart to face them?"
