"She had been wandering about the woods aimlessly it seemed, until the acrid smell of something burning and the sight of smoke on the horizon drew her in its direction.  Her leisurely pace became a hurried trot, which then became a sprint as a panic she couldn't place settled itself in her heart.  She ran through the fanciful forest until she reached the edge of a large field full of crimson clovers and lilies of the valley, with weeping willows evenly dispersed throughout it.  It was here that she saw the source of the smoke, for on the other side of the field, a small town was in ruins."


Ember Goldman has just turned nineteen and things just got weird. I had been running for what felt like hours. My legs were burning, and I knew my body was about to give out. The tears that had long since dried still clung to my face. I was covered in bruises and cuts from tearing through the forest. Everything hurt-not just my body, but my heart as well.
