The wind was brisk and cold, the call of the birds were faint, but the feeling I loved most was the dew covered grass against my feet. It was a sense of peace and belonging washed over me as I began my trek along the worn dirt road. I didn't notice the slight shift in the weather or the snow beginning to fall around me.
  "Favor, did it... get colder?"
A bark and whine made me realize we may have wandered a little too far from the trail, but I could feel the stones beneath my feet. They were smooth with wear, but something seemed... off.
  "Lady"
I stopped all movement. But when no sound or thing attacked me, I continued, unaware of the swirling portal displayed before me. I stepped through, Favor whining before following after his master, tail between his legs. With each step I took, I stepped further into the new world.
  "Lady"
  "Favor, Heel."
He barked and came to my side, nudging his leash into my hand. I gripped it tightly as the ground beneath me became unfamiliar.... I was standing on snow.
  "Favor, where are we?"
  "Bark, Bark, Bark"
"No where near home huh.... Takes us to the nearest town please."
He whined, slowly walking forward, but with the unknown land, he had to go slow and aware me of a few obstacles.... This would be my fate for the next 3 years.

I locked eyes with it. Its amber gaze pierced through me, like it could smell my fear. There was something ancient in that gaze, something that stirred an unsettling feeling deep in my gut, a sensation I couldn't quite shake. Its claws scraped against the earth, long and curved, leaving deep marks in the fresh dirt as it moved closer. I could hear its paws thud against the ground, massive and deliberate, each step sending another shock of terror through me. The silence that followed was unnerving, heavy in the air, but then a loud crack shattered the stillness. It came from the forest-close, too close. The beast whipped its head back to the forest, quickly turning his whole body around so I was behind him. The shock from him turning so fast made me stumble a few feet backwards. The ground beneath us seemed to shift as it suddenly lunged forward, its muscles rippling with terrifying power. With one mighty leap, it vaulted over the rotting wooden fence, clearing the barrier effortlessly. The impact of its landing shook the earth beneath my feet. I staggered again, trying to keep my balance as I watched the creature, now free, pause on the other side of the fence. It cocked its head backwards meeting my gaze one final time. Then, without another notice, it darted into the forest, disappearing into the darkness like a shadow swallowed by night. I stood there, my body still trembling, staring at the empty space where the creature had been. The night had swallowed it whole. And though the sounds of the forest returned, soft and distant, the terror of that moment lingered. Was it still out there? Watching? Waiting? My eyes darted back and forth in the forest, trying to see it still hung around. I didn't know, but I couldn't shake the feeling that this encounter, this creature, was only the beginning. "One does not simply walk into Mordor. Its black gates are guarded by more than just Orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep and the Great Eye is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire and ash and dust..." Boromir addresses the council in a quiet voice "The very air you breathe is a poisonous fume. Not with ten thousand men could you do this. It is folly." He ended in a state like manor As I sighed shaking my head at what he said "Have you heard nothing Lord Elrond has said ? The ring must be destroyed" Legolas said "It is true you cannot just walk into the gates of Mordor but you should not be so naive as to think you alone could destroy the ring" I said as Gimli looked towards me "And I suppose you think you're the one to do it ?" Gimli said cockily "And if we fail, what then ? What happens when Sauron takes back what is his ?" Boromir questioned looking towards Gimli as he leaps to his feet "I will be dead before I see the Ring in the hands of an Elf!" Gimli says looking towards me spitefully. "How dare you speak to me in such a manor dwarf!" I said rage in my voice as the council erupted into a storm of arguments. "Never trust an Elf!" Gimli said towards me as I reach for my arrow but a hand grabs my wrist and I feel warm breath on my ear "I wouldn't" Legolas' voice says against my skin as I look at him our faces inches apart. "Fine" I say through gritted teeth as Legolas lets go of my hand softly and stands by my side.

"Who's out there?" One of the men yelled. Of course only silence met them. I remained quiet and waited for the group to start moving again. "Maybe it was just an animal." Someone whispered. The person, who I assumed was the captain of the small squad, signaled for them to walk again. They clearly showed fear as they kept going; brandishing their weapons to guard themselves with. "Two are holding lanterns. I'll tell you when you're too close to them." I heard my friend whisper in my ear. I followed the men as I picked up another branch and waited for the right time to break it. They continued to walk through the forest, turning their heads in every direction as if an animal might lunge at them and rip their throats out. I guess in a way I was going to do that. "Go back a few feet." My friend whispered. I carefully distanced myself from the group and waited. "Where is she?" I quickly snapped the stick as soon as he finished asking the question. They stopped and two soldiers raised their lanterns to shine its light in the darkness. I quickly hid behind a tree before both of them turned where I was. A low frustrated growl came from one of the men, "The girl's playing with us. She's out here following our every move." How paranoia can cloud the mind. At nine years old, Silver decided to leave her village for the forest. Since then, she's been hunted; everyday is a fight for her life, every breath she takes could be her last, but she's determined to stay alive. Her life isn't the kind anyone would want to live but she's managed to survive this long so, what's a few more years?

How she still looked majestic, despite the scars on her face and hands was questionable. Why the elleth was in Rohan and where she disappeared to from time to time was a mystery. I do not have any copy right claims regarding the original books or movies this fanfiction is based on and I do not make any money from this content. It is simply meant as entertainment for the fanbase of middleearth and Tolkien's work. Tome of Whitetree: Book of the Frontier

29 parts Complete Mature

"The frontier is no longer quiet. Goblin clans crawl from their warrens. Orc warbands thunder along the old roads. Spirits stir in the Boarwood-restless, whispering, dramatically ominous. And beyond the hills... something older turns in its sleep. Something is coming. Something vast enough to make even the wilds hold their breath-and trust me, when trees start holding their breath, it's time to worry. And Sir Gideon Beckett-knight, wanderer, walking catastrophe deterrent-is marching straight toward the center of it all. As he does. I have watched him face raiders, duels, ogres, daemons, and a troll large enough to qualify as a geological feature. He wins-of course he wins-but the omens grow heavier by the day. The shadows deepen. Whispers speak of powers stirring that have no business stirring. What comes next will test the soul of the frontier... and the man who carries the White Tree. I can only hope I'm equal to the task of recording it-and pray the Maker grants us time to breathe before the next disaster arrives on our doorstep. The storm gathers fast and the Frontier braces for it." -Brother Guy of Walnut Hill Abbey, humble scribe, reluctant priest, ongoing survivor of Gideon-related peril
