I'm Mendel Meade, Anthropologist Second Class aboard the gen-ship Haven. Normally, I roam the depths of our honeycombed asteroid, dealing with problems and reporting back-when I can't put it off any longer-to my fellow scientists at the Brainery. But this time, I get ordered back, right now and, most disturbingly, alone. That means leaving my constant companions and right-and-left hand men-well, technically they're fourteen, but don't NOT call them men-Darwin and Newton, aka The Terror Twins, aka Oh, No, It's Them--behind. Initially, the Intergalactic Chamber of the Universe granted Draco permission to follow through with his murderous plan. However, Earl stepped in and pleaded for humanity's relocation instead of their annihilation. You see Earl himself was earth born. Only as a teenager, did he discover his 5D abilities. He saw the progress humanity had been making. He knew they had learned from their past environmental failures. In his opinion, the people of Earth didn't have to die. All they needed was a new start on a different planet.
