Atlas Pyres and his little sister have been living in a stranger's home for two years. Since then, his older brother had enrolled in the army, leaving him and the three-year-old with an abusive stepmother and a weak willed stepfather. When their mother goes too far, things get more than out of hand. Something horrible happens beneath the children's feet, and that begins the long spiral into homelessness and a whole new world of danger.
