I was always told once you find your mate, everything was up hill from then on. Did anyone ever-EVER- think that a mate could be selfish, cruel, and heartless towards their other half? Could anyone have prepared a young girl to be heartbroken? To have her mate, who she was supposed to love, cherish, grow old with, think her older sister was prettier? Just because she was 16, had breasts, and more experienced? Even though her sister was a dormant wolf.
This is how I was chosen second behind my sister, again.
How my own Alpha’s son couldn’t even accept me as his mate.
How he couldn’t even think about his own mate’s feelings, or how it might hurt her.
How he used his very little Alpha command on his own mate to keep her quiet.
How he told me I was never going to be good enough for him.
This is how my own mate gave me heartache, try to kill me, banish me… and how this all led to love.

Re-posting. The common story is that finding a mate is supposed to make the wolf stronger. For an alpha, finding his mate, blessed by the moon goddess, strengthens the pack. But there can be such darkness hidden in that dynamic. Even those of cruel hearts can seek the power of a mate. And the damage they cause might not ever be healed. ***** Prologue: Drip. Drip. Drip. The rhythm or the water would have been soothing if it hadn't been so cruel. Drip. As it was, it was nothing more than a taunting form of torture. Drip. Ears could hear the soft thudding of raindrops at the end of the hall as a door was pulled open in squeaking protests and then shut with a harsh metallic clang. How the rain made its way into the depths of the cement room, it didn't matter. It was there. Drip. Step. Drip. Step. The footsteps were strong and full of purpose. Though just as unwanted as the drops of water that fell too far out of reach. Unable to quench the dehydrated desperation chained to the wall. Drip. Step. Drip. Step. Only one set of footsteps. There was no question of the destination or purpose that carried them down the hall. Not that it was a surprise. It was always the same. First the pain, then the visit. The cell door opened to darkness. There was no energy to move, not even enough to will eyelids to open. Not that it mattered. The visit never changed. What more could be said? What more could be done? All that mattered was that stale, barely edible food was only given after he was done. Only then, could there be any comfort from hell. ***** WARNING- This story does delve into topics of kidnapping, imprisonment, rape, murder, and violence. Hunter Anther was like an open book, he'd never been afraid to be his true self. Especially his sexuality. However not everything is for everyone. Being born to the one of the largest pack to ever exist, he wasn't accepted. Everyone hated him and often bullied him, even his family. He'd hoped that after meeting his mate, regardless of gender he would finally find peace and happiness. But the moon goddess truly wasn't fond of him because in addition to being an outcast, he wasn't blessed with a wolf. What happens when his future Alpha, aka biggest bully and former friend turns out to be his mate. Will he accept and care for him or make him lose the last bit of hope he had? Like a saying goes 'The grass isn't always green on the other side.' *** "I didn't mean it.. I.. I was young and ignorant..." he tried to explain while clenching my hand, I looked at him in disgust and pulled my hand away. "What about me? How old wad I to deserve all the things you did to me?! Tell me, how was I different from you? Four years ago you rejected me after everything you've done to me. It wasn't enough punishment for you, you didn't even spare me a glance after ruining me. You left me, you are not gay." My voice trembled bit at the end but my face remained as emotionless as ever. I will never give him the satisfaction of seeing me vulnerable, not again. But why does my heart feel like it's bleeding? Shouldn't I be hating him and happy that he's on his knees begging me. So why am I tearing along with him? **** 25/02/24 - 9/08/24 **** A/N How many of us believe in second chances? Does love really conquer it all? This is not a 'love is blind' story, if you're looking for one.

"You rejected me!! Not the other way around!!" I yelled at him, tears streaming down my face. "I know." He says, he head hangs low. "And I'm sorry. I should never have rejected you." He went to take my hands into his but I turned away from him. Tears were still going down my face. How could he, after all this time, have the nerve to come here. He knew that he had hurt me. Now he is sorry and wants me back? No. "Please. Believe me. I messed up big time! I didn't know what I had until it was gone!" He said. I heard every word. They cut through the wall of my heart and placed themselves on it . It hurt. But what he did to me had hurt even more. "That's right. You screwed up. Consider me lost." I said. Then I walked away.
