When I donned my first uniform, I swore to approach the coming apocalypse of Junior High stalwart against the temptations of boys, soap opera feminity, and the color pink.

Now here I am, shading drawings of women in purple dresses for a club with the word "fashion" in it.

If I and the girl who'd sworn to keep such an original identity had met at this moment, I'd no doubt suffer the humiliation of being punched by a midget with pixie-cut hair and bandages earned from the playground.
