I squint my eyes from the blazing sun picking a dandelion embedded into the soil feeling the slimy texture of the stem on my fingers. "You're playing with dandelions, huh?" ... A story that tells about a boy who grew up in the South witnessing the cruelty of his friends. Having to witness society on the injustices of people who doesn't look like him. A girl who's unable to go anywhere she pleases, facing the mistreatment of people who doesn't look like herself. Until they met each other... Note: There are grammar errors in this book. Set in the 1800's, colonial America, this is the story of Mercy Peters, an African American slave woman who gets sold throughout the south and ends up meeting a white man---that ends up changing her life. This story will be more raw than my other stories because I feel so strongly about slavery , and the life of a woman during that time. Enjoy. Might me inappropriate for younger viewers. Guys, I hope the way the story is written does not offend anybody. I only based the way she speaks on excerpts I read in my AP U.S history class. It gets better later on in the story. Again, I have no rude intentions in this story. I am a black person myself and although I am not African-American, I can relate.

She will face one of the cruelest band of the southern militia army as she tries to protect the people she loves most. This is a story about the ones left home during the war. The one's who earned no great merit or place in history. The forgotten heroes of a bloody war that stood for freedom and equality for all Americans. I based some of facts in the story on writings left behind by my family that lived here in Indiana in the 1860s. My ancestors were Quaker and they were abolitionists in Indiana. We still have their homes used in the underground railroad in our family. My other side was endangered servants from Ireland and my great-great-grandfather was, unfortunately, one of the soldiers that came to Indiana while serving under John Hunt Morgan.
