Twenty years after the first mission to Mars has failed, mankind has regained enough courage and will to attempt a landing on The Red Planet again. Much has changed since the first attempt.
Robots, guided by the world spanning artificial intelligence, Watson, have been busy for the last two decades, building the interplanetary infrastructure required to allow humans to spread out into the solar system for the first time. Their work has been immeasurably important. Their accomplishments in such a short time have been nothing short of miraculous. But, can we trust them? Some believe that Watson has secret ambitions and is guiding events toward a future that no human knows about.

A small band of specially chosen soldiers are given a mission to reclaim Earth, to see if it's fit for colonization. They've trained their whole lives for this mission. The icy moon is notorious for failed probe landings and research missions that end in tragedy: the only people to ever venture to its surface needed rescuing after just two weeks. When a prestigious research group decides they want a turn, they ask Alex Gallegos to lead the team. Perfectly qualified and haunted by their past, Alex accepts, hoping to make up for old mistakes and get just a little further from the earth they've left behind. Two months into the seven-month mission, the team is struggling with discontent, damaged equipment, and blizzards acting less and less like normal weather. RESCUE MODE
The first human mission to Mars meets with near-disaster when a meteoroid strikes the spacecraft, almost destroying it. The ship is too far from Earth to simply turn around and return home. The eight-person crew must ride their crippled ship to Mars while they desperately struggle to survive. On Earth, powerful political forces that oppose human spaceflight try to use the accident as proof that sending humans into space is too dangerous to continue. The whole human space flight program hangs in the balance. And if the astronauts can't nurse their ship to Mars and back, the voyagers will become either the first Martian colonists-or the first humans to perish on another planet.
World's Apart
When the Mars missions started to get momentum I never knew I would be a part of it. The red planet was a great platform to gain my freedom from my lost love. I was so confused about the situation that it bordered on obsession with my mentor he was my sponsor for the mission as you need to have one to vouch for your ability to get right all the aspects of the training. The human factor involved in the highly computerized setup was a glitch that set everything out of sink so the mentor system was created to help the astronaut focus on getting the job done. I did the unthinkable crime of falling in love with my mentor. So not cool,so not professional and to top it off embarrassing for me. How do I get away from this problem. Make sure I go to Mars and not have to face him again. Even if it means I never come back again.Terminé

|WATTYS 2022 WINNER - HORROR| Shawn, a convicted criminal, never thought she'd see the sun again, let alone call another star system her home. When she's offered an out from her prison sentence, she embarks on a dangerous interstellar expedition along with 18 of Earth's most intelligent criminals. Their task is to set up a base on a supposedly habitable planet and prepare it for colonization. Although the planet has liquid water and a breathable atmosphere, it is believed to host only microbial life. However, upon arriving, Shawn and the rest of the colonists learn that assumption was grossly incorrect. In a brutal attack from rampaging wildlife, everyone but Shawn and four other colonists are killed. The five survivors retreat to the cavernous network beneath the ground seeking safety, but they soon come to a terrible discovery. These caves aren't ordinary caves, and they are no safer down under than they were on the surface. [][][] This was originally my entry for the 2021 Open Novella Contest, and it received an honorable mention! It has now been expanded into a full length novel.
