Corey circled around me menacingly. He was going to prove a point. "When I say jump, you jump." I balled up my toes and got ready to jump. I was too slow.
There was a sound like wood breaking and only seconds later did I feel the effects of the blinding smack on my tender jaw.
"You will learn" he said as the bastard stretched out his hand.
"Fuck you" I spat out. Corey continued like he didn't hear me "When I say jump,-" he repeated. I was prepared for this round and took of before he could complete his sentence.
Corey chuckled. "All bark and no bite."

Joaddan did not know what to make of her current situation. She did not understand the events that enabled her to be stuck in the rift that was her life.
She was a good girl as most were in the small town she grew up in. She didn't enter strange cars and she treated people the way she would want to be treated. She didn't accept candy for strangers and could not remember ever cheating or purposely harming another person.
With this is mind, it was kind of ironic how life mocked her. Yet, it is often said that nice people get nowhere in life. She felt like she could contest against that statement. Oh, yes she was somewhere very important.
It may not have been a situation that could make her parents beam with joy, but she was certainly somewhere.
