Natsu, Gajeel, and Wendy are kids and also dragon slayers. Natsu and Gajeel 8, while Wendy is only 5. 

Lucy, Levy, Erza, and Gray are 8 as well, except that they aren't dragon slayers. They're just kids, but with a different type of magic.

As days pass, Gajeel and Levy soon meet each other one day, only to have their friendship blossom. Levy's dad disapproves of this, and because of his disapproval, he decides to kidnap Gajeel and his friends, only to torture them. He doesn't want Levy's heart to be broken when she becomes older. 

While Erza is walking to her friend Lucy's house for a slumber party with the girls, she finds a small house on the side of the road, only to her surprise, finding 3 passed out dragon slayers handcuffed on the walls, and a man that seemed to look just like Levy. 

DX Wendy probably has a bigger age difference than Natsu and the others so please don't kill me.
