He had escaped the death screen a long time ago, and managed to defeat Chara/Frisk, but now he has no way of leaving, and no way to relieve his suffering... That is, unless he kills you. However, once he has you in his grasp, he cannot find it within himself to kill you, an innocent. You FORGIVE him. An unsteady friendship forms from the ashes of what once was. He feels lost in the many mistakes of his past, and he can't get over them. But it's okay. You can look past them, and see the good inside of him. After all... You have the lilac soul.
