There are people that are born mute and are have to go through straggles of life to make friends and make people understand. However, Rose is totally capable of talking so...why doesn't she talk? She's obviously mute by choice.

Tord has been taken from his abusive mother. Hes been put into an orphanage and doesn't know that much english, which makes it hard for him. He doesn't talk much to anyone except a boy named Tom, who also lives at the orphanage since his parents were both killed.
