Lucas skimmed through the crowd, searching for her. He had caught but just a mere glimpse of her earlier that same evening. She was not of this kingdom, but she was exceptionally beautiful, even though she was wearing a mask. Her hair as dark as midnight complimented the black dress she wore which was made of silk. Lucas pushed his way out of the denser area of the crowd. He felt it was absurd to find anyone at this busy masquerade ball.
Young ladies tugged at the edges of his sleeves, wanting to dance with him, Prince Lucas; but he was focused on one thing only, finding the girl. He finally caught sight of her on the balcony, gazing into the moonlight. Making his way over to her, his heart started to quicken. Just as he was going to open the glass door, she jumped from the balcony.
