Vera Mitchell lost her family in a tragic fire when she was a little girl, and it doomed her to a life of anger and despair, foster care families, and most of all, loneliness. But that didn't stop her from becoming a fire department detective to find out what really happened that night, even while isolating herself as much as possible. Then she gets these powers that allow her to control, manipulate and turn herself into fire. She doesn't know what they mean at first, but she is willing to find out, and willing to use them for good instead of evil. These fire powers lead to her becoming Pyra.
Aurora Swan is a doctor that works for STAR Labs. She knows of the Starling City vigilantes, and who they are, and is welcoming when they come for a visit. When the particle accelerator explodes, she is trapped in the pipeline and is completely frozen by the Freon in the system. Mixed with the dark matter, it gives her the power to control, manipulate and turn herself into ice. She is a hero in her own right that goes by the name Glacia, and Aurora is devastated after losing her fiance to the explosion, completely unaware that he is still alive as Firestorm, though she has the friends to help her through the loss.
One of those friends is Emma West, computer expert for STAR Labs, sister to Iris West and daughter to Detective Joe West. It is her that hears of Barry being struck by lightning and Vera being burned alive, and it is her that brings them into STAR Labs while they're in comas that differ in time, to help them get well. She may not be a superhero with powers, but she is a hero in her own way.
Logan Hemmings is security detail for STAR Labs, ex-military man. When the particle accelerator explodes, he is gifted with the power of super strength that lead to the team and the city to call him Guardian, as he is always guarding STAR Labs and Central City.
With these people working together, with and without super powers alike, can these heroes save Central City?
Aspen Penrose can't remember what it was like before the Particle Accelerator exploded two years ago. The bright light in the sky, the wave of energy raging towards her, and the pain she felt when knocked unconscious in her home. Every part of her was changed: every molecule, every atom, every strand of DNA. She was no longer the twenty-four year old woman with a six year old daughter and a humane society for animals to run. She became a metahuman.
At the very same time, her half-sister, Trillium Penrose, was dramatically changed. The artist became a member of Team Flash after realizing what she had become, and for two years kept this secret from her older sister.
It wasn't until two years after the explosion, one year after the appearance of the mysterious Flash, that Aspen's magical abilities started to control her instead of the other way around. Without meaning to, she nearly destroyed her company's building, almost killing her friends and employees. It wasn't until the Flash stopped her and took her to S.T.A.R. Labs that she realized how different she had actually become.
During her stay at the Labs, she learned all that Barry Allen, Cisco Ramone, Caitlin Snow, and her own sister had done for Central City. How they had stopped evil Harrison Wells, aka Eobard Thawne. They had saved countless lives, including hers. While Aspen sought out a way to repay them for all they'd done, a new enemy reered it's ugly head in the most horrific way: kidnapping her daughter from her elementary school and holding her for ransom.
Will Team Flash be able to save Aspen's daughter? Will they be able to stop the new enemy that's threatening Central City? Who is Julian Albert and why does Trillium continue to try to help him? Do Barry and Aspen have something between them? Will the Penrose sisters relationship heal after two years of lies? Will Aspen claim her new title of hero alongside the Flash?
