At twenty-five, Hakon was getting too old to be a bachelor. He needed a wife and a heir. The only problem was that he could not find anyone of his taste. He knew that he did not need to find someone to love, but he would at least like a wife that he would be rather fond of.
While visiting King Emmanuel to negotiate lands, he sets his eyes on Atarah. He had never seen anyone so beautiful, and he knew that she would be his. He did not care that she was Christian, or that she was King Emmanuel's daughter. The moment he saw her he already knew she would be his wife. The only problem that he could see, however, was that she was sick.
Atarah has always had a sheltered life. From the time she was born, she has seen more of the insides of her room than anything else.
