Damaged - Arden, Georgia; a city that barely sleeps. People are always partying whatever the occasion, tourists coming in numbers bigger than the former years. A city lots of people want to move to and never leave. The historic buildings, fairytale like forests, myths, mysterious tunnels. All a few of the attractions tourists focus on. What most people don't know is the mystery that hides behind Arden's beauty. What lives behind the tourists attractions or...what's hiding from them. Among these tourists there's a young woman who few people refer to as a 'wise oak'. Some say people barely saw her. Nobody knew her name so people go for the cliché 'Jane Doe'. But her case has also been called a myth. Like many others a young man moved to Arden. The aura of the city being the beacon that drove him there. Being quite the adventurer he is, he realized that the myth of Jane Doe is more than just a story.

"Nowhere is safe, you know?" Foster homes, orphanages, replacement homes, you name it, Georgia Monroe has never fit in anywhere. From a young age, she has only known that running away and constantly losing track of those that are supposed to care for her, is a way of survival. A way to escape. She hardly knows her real name, as people are constantly trying to change it, whilst all she wants to do is fit in. It's like she knows that she has a real family out there, no matter how many times people try to tell her that they either didn't want her, before explaining all the reasons why no one would want her, or that they all died, and she will never know them. For years, Georgia has tried to decipher the difference between words thrown at her in rage and due to alcohol, but as the years go by, it is harder to see the difference. It's harder not to believe the words. The words of her family not wanting her and that they may be dead, probably as a result of her sake. All she wants, is a pair of safe arms that will take the stress of her shoulders, for a little while. Only, she doesn't know how great of a deal she is asking of those that are her family. She will never understand the depth of the work that her real family has been intertwined, and maybe not living with them, has kept her alive. Has made her a stronger person than she would have been if she had grown up with them from the beginning. Georgia, though it may feel like to her, isn't the only one that has suffered. Though her brothers home may be idealistic and fit for a king and queen in her eyes, it is far from it. Behind all the luxury and money spilling from the walls, it hadn't been like that their entire lives. It wasn't easy to attain such wealth without risking a few lives here and there, including Georgia's, their sister. __________________________________________________________________ Started: 11.10.21 Finished: 21.08.22 Rewritten: 17.08.25 -
